the impact of infectious diseases

Students

Cirion has initiated special programs for students in primary schools and high schools. The objective of these programs is to acquaint students with the social and medical impact of infectious diseases and create awareness of them. With new pathogens being introduced and old ones reintroduced, the incidence of infectious diseases is increasing worldwide. Well-known examples of these are HIV and sexually transmitted diseases (STD).

Cirion shares knowledge on infectious diseases at schools in several ways:

  • Involving children themselves in education on infectious diseases, through the Viruskenner initiative: With the theme knowledge as antivirus, Cirion, supported by Abbott and Janssen, has started a campaign initiative called Viruskenner. This initiative aims to involve young people, at secondary schools, in education on infectious diseases. Part of the campaign, mostly in Dutch, is a competition for making the best educational material. Schools will be involved in a school tour. An interactive website is aimed at facilitating the campaign.
  • Transfer of information in presentations as part of educational schemes in biology class:

  •  Or more interactive, involving students in conversations between MDs and patients.
